FBI BUSTS Communist Police Outpost in Manhattan…

A federal jury has convicted a New York man for operating an illegal Chinese Communist Party police station on American soil, marking a watershed moment in the fight against Beijing’s brazen assault on U.S. sovereignty and its campaign to silence dissidents within our borders.

Communist China’s Underground Police Network Exposed

Lu Jianwang, a New York resident with ties to Fuzhou hometown associations, was found guilty by a federal jury in the Eastern District of New York for operating what prosecutors described as an illegal arm of the Fuzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau. The third-floor Chinatown office, disguised as a community service center helping with administrative paperwork, actually functioned as a command post for Chinese security officials. Prosecutors presented evidence that Lu coordinated directly with Communist Party operatives in China, helped locate pro-democracy activists at Beijing’s request, and participated in monitoring diaspora activities—all without notifying U.S. authorities as required under federal law.

Destruction of Evidence After FBI Investigation

When the FBI raided the Manhattan outpost in fall 2022, seizing electronic devices and documentation, Lu’s response revealed the operation’s true nature. Evidence presented at trial showed that after learning of the investigation, he contacted Chinese officials who instructed him to destroy communications and erase records of the station’s activities. Lu then deleted WhatsApp and WeChat messages and coordinated with co-conspirators to conceal evidence, leading to obstruction charges that carry serious federal penalties. This cover-up demonstrated consciousness of guilt and exposed the covert relationship between the defendants and Communist Party security apparatus.

Transnational Repression on American Soil

The conviction highlights Beijing’s aggressive transnational repression campaign, which treats Chinese nationals and dissidents worldwide as subjects under its control regardless of their location or citizenship status. Since at least 2016, Chinese provincial public security bureaus established over one hundred such “overseas service stations” in more than fifty countries, ostensibly for administrative help but actually to intimidate critics, coerce wanted individuals to return to China, and conduct surveillance. The Manhattan station was part of this global network, allowing Communist Party officials to extend authoritarian policing into American communities without diplomatic authorization or legal process—a flagrant violation of U.S. sovereignty that should alarm every citizen who values constitutional protections.

Unprecedented Legal Victory Against Foreign Interference

Lu’s conviction under 18 U.S.C. Section 951, which criminalizes acting as an unregistered foreign government agent, represents the first jury verdict specifically targeting operators of clandestine Chinese police outposts on U.S. territory. Maximum penalties under this statute reach ten years in prison, with additional exposure for obstruction counts; sentencing will occur in coming months. The verdict sends a clear message that the Trump administration’s Department of Justice will not tolerate foreign governments running underground security operations in American cities. Countries including Ireland, the Netherlands, and Canada have already shut down similar Chinese stations after investigations, and this conviction provides legal precedent for aggressive enforcement against Beijing’s extraterritorial overreach.

The case against co-defendant Chen Jinping, who faced similar charges for helping operate the station, remains subject to final adjudication. Meanwhile, Chinese government officials have predictably denied operating police stations abroad and criticized the prosecution as politically motivated, despite overwhelming evidence of coordination with Fuzhou security officials. The Communist Party’s United Front system routinely co-opts diaspora organizations and hometown associations to advance Beijing’s strategic objectives, creating networks of influence that blur lines between community service and foreign espionage. This conviction demonstrates that the United States will hold accountable those who betray their adopted homeland by serving as instruments of authoritarian foreign powers.

  1. Too bad the US does not hold Israeli operatives that work to censor American Free Speech or identify people they disagree with in the same way they went after this Chinese man! Double standards are not acceptable and given the barbaric nature of rabid Zionists this case shows the extreme prejudice in the US that is undemocratic and illegal.
