A father who coordinated an attack on a journalist at an anti-ICE protest now claims the backlash has him questioning whether to remain in America—despite facing potential federal charges for the assault that left the reporter with a concussion.
Coordinated Attack Caught On Camera
Chris Ostroushko and his daughter Paige orchestrated an assault on Turning Point USA reporter Savanah Hernandez during an April 10 protest in Minneapolis. Video footage shows Ostroushko directing his daughter to retrieve a whistle from their car and blow it directly in Hernandez’s ear while he shoved the journalist. The coordinated nature of the attack became clear when additional footage surfaced showing the father and daughter planning the assault moments before execution.
Paige Ostroushko, a University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point soccer player, aggressively invaded Hernandez’s personal space while blowing the whistle. When Hernandez raised her hand defensively, the assault escalated. The attack left Hernandez with a documented concussion requiring medical attention.
Family Claims Victimhood Status
Rather than expressing remorse, Chris Ostroushko posted a video complaining about the consequences his family now faces. He claimed hundreds of daily phone calls and text messages have targeted not just him and his daughter, but extended family members including his sons and their wives. The attention, he stated, makes him reconsider living in the United States—a remarkable statement from someone potentially facing federal assault charges.
Federal Investigation Underway
Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet K. Dhillon confirmed the federal government launched an investigation into the incident on April 12. Despite the video evidence and ongoing FBI and Department of Homeland Security investigations, Hennepin County has filed no charges against either Ostroushko. The father and daughter remain free while authorities review the case. Paige Ostroushko reportedly bragged online about avoiding arrest following the assault.
Pattern Of Partisan Prosecution
The lack of charges stands in stark contrast to Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty’s aggressive pursuit of an ICE agent over conduct during Operation Metro Surge. Moriarty also announced plans to charge law enforcement officers in separate fatal shootings, highlighting what critics view as selective prosecution based on political alignment rather than evidence and justice.
