American Pope BREAKS Protocol—Names Trump in Stunning Rebuke

Pope Leo XIV issued a sharp rebuke Tuesday of President Donald Trump’s threat to destroy Iranian civilization, calling it truly unacceptable and urging Americans to contact their representatives to demand peace instead of escalation.

Vatican Breaks Diplomatic Protocol

Speaking from Castel Gandolfo south of Rome, the American-born pontiff condemned threats against civilian populations as violations of international law. The Vatican rarely names political leaders in public criticism, making Leo’s comments particularly significant. He referenced Trump’s statements during escalating tensions with Iran, calling on people worldwide to reject what he termed an unjust war that continues to spiral without resolution.

Leo urged Americans and other citizens to pressure their congressional representatives, emphasizing that attacks on civilian infrastructure constitute war crimes under international law. He highlighted the hatred and division such threats represent, contrasting them with the path toward peace. Last week marked the first time Leo publicly named Trump, expressing hope the president was genuinely seeking an off-ramp from conflict.

Global Crisis Concerns

The Pope warned that current Middle East instability feeds global hatred while economic and energy crises deepen worldwide. He called for leaders to return to negotiations and seek peaceful solutions. Leo reminded audiences to consider innocent victims, especially children, the elderly, and the sick who suffer most from warfare. His message emphasized that political leaders must remember their responsibility to pursue diplomatic paths rather than destruction.

Lebanon Aid Blocked

The Vatican separately announced that a convoy carrying over forty tons of humanitarian aid to Lebanon was blocked for security reasons. Leo sent a message to Christians in southern Lebanon comparing their suffering to Christ’s passion. He visited Lebanon last year during his first international trip as Pope. Cardinal Pietro Parolin signed the solidarity message, expressing support for residents enduring what Leo called profound injustices and abandonment in the conflict zone.
